I work with Kumasi Hive and the Open Bioeconomy Lab as a Technical Associate and researcher respectively. My research with the Open Bioeconomy Lab studies challenges within the bioeconomy of low resource countries while exploring ways to use open science to democratize how research is done locally. We do this by creating capacity for local researchers to overcome the reagent distribution bottlenecks (one of the numerous challenges) by equipping them with open protocols and resources for local enzyme manufacturing to improve access to reagents for biological research. Am also involved in the growing DIY Bio hacker movement in Ghana and Africa, a movement to enable individuals and groups carry out research independently and openly towards creating viable products for the market.
