This session will discuss the opportunities of biotech and machine learning applied to pathology, and how digital innovation is enabling progress in handling public health challenges.

This session will look at how innovative technologies in the health sector are helping to fight diseases.

Patrick Kobina Arthur will address ways in which new biotech companies in Ghana can contribute to global health goals. He will address the power of innovation matched with research on new biological agents to fight diseases. The research team led by Patrick Kobina Arthur is working towards the discovery and development of new antibiotics against tropical infectious diseases. The group has presently isolated and screened more than three thousand distinct fungal species. Patrick will share what it takes to get such new innovations emerging from university based research market ready.

Musa M. Mhlanga will share the work of this laboratory and their work on gene regulation, host-pathogen interactions, single molecule imaging of gene expression and the development of cell-based visual high-throughput biology techniques for screening in basic and clinical biology.

Together they will discuss the opportunities of Biotech and machine learning applied to pathology, and how digital innovation is enabling progress in handling public health challenges.
