Description
NOLAND is a Berlin based record label and artist collective founded by Andi and Hannes Teichmann with a focus on outstanding transcultural electronic music. The label features artists like DJ Raph from Kenya, the Pakistan/German ensemble Karachi Files, experimental northindian musician Kalab or the audiovisual ensemble Mondmaschine from Central America & Germany, as well as the often collaborative works of Gebrüder Teichmann.
On "Sacred Groves", DJ Raph builds rich, textured electronic music from ethnographic field recordings from different African cultures to, always in search of a greater understanding. His work emerges from weeks of research in the extensive music archive of the Iwalewahaus (Bayreuth). All ethnographic recordings used on this record are part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
