Beschreibung

The two music acts Johanna Amelie (based in Berlin) and the Musical Lunatics (based in Accra) are going to demonstrate the joy of collaboration and improvisation in a live concert. The performance at re:publica is the continuation of a joint music project that focusses on reinterpreting their own songs and mixing different music genres. NII Quaye (The Muscial Lunatics) and Johanna Amelie first met in autumn 2017 in the context of the "Buzz Meets Biz" Goethe Institute Program in 2017.  Inspired by one another, the two composers started collaborating on songs and arrangements while traveling between Berlin and Madrid. They also played several shows together in Accra (Republic Bar, Alliance Francaise). The musicians of different musical background complement each other, creating playful, wild and sometimes quiet tones. Johanna Amelie's indie-folky sounds are combined with the diverse influences of the musical lunatics, ranging from soul, to funk, to afro-pop and world-trap.

They are joined on stage for selected songs by Eli A Free and Betina Quest.
