After graduating from the University of Cape Town, Tim began his career in digital media by working as a journalist for some of South Africa’s most popular sports websites, while also running a business providing tented accommodation at Cape Town music festivals. He then moved further into the digital world, working in the creative development of digital products and campaigns for international clients such as Audi, Volkswagen and South African Breweries. From there he the made the leap to NGO space, and joined Project Isizwe as one of its first employees, joining a mission to provide South Africa’s communities with Free WiFi. Initially heading up the Marketing side of Project Isizwe, Tim moved to the spearhead its digital content offering ’Tobetsa' across its Free WiFi networks.
Now working as a consultant for Public WiFi networks and other Social Development enterprises, Tim is helping build the concept of a 'Smart Township' and using hyper-local content and Free WiFi as a means to bridge the digital divide in low-income communities.
