Bernardino Avle
General Manager

Bernardino Avle is the host of the leading English language talk show on Ghana radio – The Citi Breakfast Show, and the host of current affairs show, The Point of View on Citi TV. 

He is also the General Manager of the Citi FM & Citi TV. 

Avle has a degree in Economics and and MBA from Warwick University in the UK as a class of 2008 Chevening Scholar. 

He began his media work volunteering as a broadcast journalist at the University of Ghana’s Radio Univers, after which he joined Citi 97.3 FM as a national service person at its inception in 2004. 

Bernard as he is commonly referred to as, has done pioneering work using his commercial radio and TV platform to champion good governance and social accountability. 

More recently, he championed a campaign against illegal small scale mining and succeeded in making it a national issue between the years of 2016 & 2017. 

The Citi Breakfast Show was named the Interactive/Talk Show of the year at the BBC’s Africa Radio Awards in 2007, in Nairobi Kenya and was awarded the title of Radio Program of the year, by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), in 2013 and again in 2015 & 2016. 

He was featured in the 2015 edition of the Business World magazine as one of the 20 most influential business leaders under 40. Avle spends some of his time visiting campuses nationwide, addressing student audiences on media, career, and citizenship.

In addition to being an ALIWA Fellow and an Edward R. Murrow Fellow of Journalism, he was recently adjudged the Ghana Journalists Association’s (GJA) Journalist of the year, 2017.
