Hisham Allam
Lecturer, investigative reporter

He is a media trainer known with his passion about investigative reporting. Hisham was one of Paradise Papers and  Panama Papers team who revealed the secrets of offshore world, awarded by the prestigious “Pulitzer” in 2017.

He was part as well of the cross-boarder investigation “Swiss Leaks”. The two global investigations were awarded by Global Editors Network as “investigation of the year” in 2015 and 2016 in addition to George Polk Award in 2017.
Allam is a founding member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) Network Committee. He lead a team of international journalists and experts to write the first manual on investigating illicit financial flows in Arabic in cooperation with GIZ and MiCT. Allam also participated as in writing a training manual on investigative reporting for the UNFPA program on reporting about population issues.
He participated in the launching of a Norwegian project focusing on investigating extremism in the world “Hate Speech International” in 2013 as MENA researcher and coordinator. Allam played a key role in the launch of the Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Yom in 2006. In 2012, he helped founding El Watan newspaper of Egypt, an independent daily newspaper. He served as Investigations Editor until he quit in July 2013.
He used to work as a media consultant, and trainer where he trained hundreds of reporters in cooperation with the UNDP, UNFPA, Transparency International, CiFAR, Friedrich Ebert, GIZ, MiCT, BIRN, KLOOP, I Watch, and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Sudan, Tunisia, Jordan, Macedonia, Germany, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Yemen, and Egypt.
Besides, Allam is a lecturer at Al-Ahram Canadian University in Cairo and carrying out his own investigations independently.
